Located at the Vindhya Hills of Umaria District in Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the most famous National Parks of India, sprawled across a total 1537 sq Kms approximately.The national Park is home for almost 22 species of animals (especially mammals) and 250 species of birds.The reserve was named Bandhavgarh because of the existence of a prehistoric fort in hillock of Vindhya Ranges of Umaria. The name of the fortress was given with a combination of two words: ‘Bandhav’ means ‘Brother’ and “Garh’ means ‘Fort’, which stands for brother's fort. It is believed that Lord Rama gifted this incredible fort to his younger brother Lakshmana.
